If you or your child are wearing traditional braces, we need to make appointments to see you every four weeks. Since braces work by gradually repositioning your teeth, they need to be adjusted and monitored periodically by Dr. Jesus Martinez to ensure progress.

Patients who are receiving treatment with clear aligners usually have appointments scheduled every 8 to 10 weeks.

Periodic follow-up appointments are necessary to ensure the success of your orthodontic treatment, and you need to show up for every appointment scheduled. Nobody wants to spend any longer than necessary in treatment. But if you are non-compliant and miss appointments, you risk extended treatment times that can result in additional expense and put your overall oral health at risk.

These appointments are also a good time to ask Dr. Martinez any questions you have as you progress through treatment. He is always more than happy to take time with you because he knows that patients who are informed and knowledgeable are likely to stay motivated.

If you are having orthodontic treatment, you owe it to yourself to commit to doing your part. This includes keeping appointments and following all Dr. Martinez instructions. He has been practicing dentistry for 27 years, so you can be confident that he has the expertise and experience necessary to provide treatment that will exceed your expectations.

Please call our Miami dental office to learn how orthodontics can improve your smile and your life.

At Martinez Orthodontics we understand that everyone has unique needs that will require a personalized approach to treatment. We are pleased to offer various treatments modalities that will help you achieve your goal of a straighter, more attractive smile.

For children and adolescents, we recommend traditional braces, either metal or tooth-colored brackets, to guide the dental movement properly.

Some patients present developmental problems of the jaws and so additional orthopedic appliances may be necessary for jaws-growth guidance.

For adult patients with mild to moderate orthodontic problems, we offer removable clear aligners that can be taken out for eating and brushing and flossing. Complex cases may require traditional braces, special appliances, and surgical intervention.

Whatever your needs, you can be confident that Dr. Martinez will explain all your options and how they will improve the health and appearance of your smile. We know that there’s a lot to think about when you or your child are getting orthodontic treatment, but we will be with you every step of the way to offer guidance and support.

The best way to find out what is best for you is scheduling a free consultation with Dr. Jesus Martinez. We will help you choose the one that is best for your particular orthodontic concern.

The cost of orthodontic treatment is based on the severity of the problem to be corrected and the type of appliances needed. The length of treatment necessary to obtain the desired results is another factor. We encourage you to be compliant and follow through with scheduled appointments because we can achieve desired results faster and with less expense to you.

During your initial complimentary orthodontic consultation, we will present you with the treatment fees, so you know what to expect. We accept most HMO and PPO insurances, and if you have orthodontic coverage, we will be happy to verify benefits on your behalf.

We believe that everyone should have access to high-quality orthodontic treatment. If you don’t have orthodontic coverage, we have other options. For your convenience, we offer interest-free financing through our office and a third-party financing option with GreenSky that allows you to spread your payments over many months. We also accept all major credit cards and offer discounts for children with Medicaid.

If you think you or your child might need orthodontics, please call Martinez Orthodontics to arrange a free consultation. We don’t want anyone to go without the treatment because of financial concerns, so we will do our best to work with you to find the solution that best fits your needs.

Orthodontics for All Ages: Braces and Clear Aligners

It’s difficult to say how long your treatment will take because everyone starts out with different needs. But the average orthodontic treatment time for traditional braces is about 24 to 30 months. If you have mild tooth misalignment, we may be able to complete treatment in less time using clear aligners or partial braces depending on your budget.

Some of the factors affecting your treatment time are age, the severity of the orthodontic problem, treatment goals, and compliance. Dr. Martinez will recommend the treatment option that will best help you achieve your goals for a straighter smile. But if you want to see the best results in the shortest time possible, you must be committed to keeping scheduled appointments and following proper oral hygiene at home.

If you would like to get a better idea of how long your treatment will take, please call us to arrange a free consultation with Miami orthodontist Dr. Jesus Martinez. He will listen to your concerns and identify any factors that might impact the length of your treatment. If he finds you or your child would benefit from braces, we will discuss your treatment options and the average time each one would take.

Early Orthodontic Treatment

The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends children be evaluated by an orthodontist around age seven. Since some orthodontic problems are easier to correct if detected early, an evaluation at this age may identify the need for immediate treatment.

However, don’t be alarmed; the consultation may indicate treatment is not yet needed. But the visit is still of value because it will help you and your child begin to develop a relationship with our office. You can be confident that Dr. Martinez will make sure your child starts treatment at the right time.

If you are an adult patient, please know that you are never too old to improve your smile. Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age, providing your teeth and periodontium (the bone and tissue that support your teeth) are healthy.

Since your first consultation at Martinez Orthodontics is complimentary, you really owe it to yourself to stop by and visit with us to see what’s possible for your smile. Dr. Martinez will perform an exam and will inform you whether or not you are ready to start orthodontic treatment.

Dentofacial Orthopedics

After we remove your braces, your teeth have the potential to shift throughout life and will move to some degree. Retainers are designed to maintain the position of your teeth and prevent unwanted movement. At Martinez Orthodontics, we design retainers that are either fixed or removable depending on what is most beneficial for your situation.

Dr. Martinez recommends you wear your removable retainers 24/7 for the first year and then while you sleep for a few years. We offer four complimentary retainer follow-up visits during your first year in retention.

Should you get fixed or "permanent" retainers (a piece of wire bonded behind your teeth), you have to take good care of them. If you don’t clean them properly, retainers can build up tartar just like your teeth do. They are also prone to breaking if you eat hard or sticky foods, so it’s also important to be careful with your diet.

Remember, after you have spent money, time, and effort to obtain a beautiful, healthy smile, it's fair to say that by wearing your retainers you are protecting your investment.

Please call Martinez Orthodontics to arrange a free consultation so Dr. Martinez can explain how the process works and how retainers fit into your overall treatment plan.
